About SafeHotels.ai

Booking a hotel shouldn't be a gamble on safety

SafeHotels.ai helps solo travellers and business professionals across the UK choose where to stay using real crime data — not guesswork, and not marketing copy.

What We Do

Most hotel sites rank rooms by price, star rating and review score. None of them tell you what's happening on the street outside. We do. SafeHotels.ai layers official Police.uk crime data over every area, so you can see how safe a hotel's postcode actually is before you book.

We focus on the UK, and we publish a new city safety guide every week — each one built on real data rather than opinion.

Why We Built It

Travelling alone changes how you think about where you stay. The walk back to the hotel at night, the quiet street the booking photos never show, the difference one postcode makes — these are real concerns, and they're rarely answered honestly online. We built SafeHotels.ai to put that missing information in one place, in plain language, for the people who need it most: solo female travellers and business travellers.

How Our Safety Scores Work

Step 1 · Data

We pull rolling 12-month crime statistics from the Police.uk API — and Police Scotland for Scottish cities — for each area.

Step 2 · Weighting

Crimes are weighted by category severity and normalised per 1,000 residents, so busy city centres aren't unfairly penalised for footfall.

Step 3 · Score

Each area gets a clear safety score across night safety, street safety, hotel security and cleanliness. Higher is safer. Updated weekly.

Important: Our scores reflect the wider postcode area, not the quality of any individual hotel. A higher-crime area doesn't mean a bad hotel — it means worth knowing before you book.

Who It's For

We built this for solo travellers, solo female travellers and business professionals who'd rather make an informed choice than hope for the best. If safety is the first thing you check when you book, you're who we had in mind.

Our Promise

Independent by design

We earn a commission when you book through our partner links, at no extra cost to you. But our safety data is drawn from official police records — it is never influenced by which hotels we earn from. The crime figures are what they are. You can read the full detail on our affiliate disclosure page.
